Michelle Downing of Franklin County has been named finance director of county operations for Ohio Farm Bureau. In her role, she will support Ohio Farm Bureau, its subsidiaries and the county Farm Bureaus with financial leadership and oversight for financial record preparation, reporting, payroll processing, audit reviews and tax filings.
Prior to joining the Farm Bureau staff, Downing worked on the finance team for Nationwide and electric cooperatives including American Municipal Power and South Central Power. She also has several years of nonprofit experience working at United Way of Central Ohio and most recently Mental Health America of Ohio.
Downing holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Franklin University along with an associate’s degree in accounting from Northwest State Community College.

The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
