cattle

Coshocton County Farm Bureau is pleased to introduce Jim Dugan as this month’s Feature Farmer! Jim has been a farmer his whole life and now raises 80 head of cattle and grows corn, hay and wheat in Walhonding, Ohio.

Jim appreciates that farming allows him to be his own boss even though there are demands and requirements of what has to be done and when it has to be done. And in his operation, Jim finishes out the calves until they are taken to the auction in Zanesville, Ohio.

Jim never really has an off-season since he spends his summers preparing the hay and grain and spends his winters using the hay for the animals. And his biggest challenge is making money in the current market.

Jim appreciates being a Farm Bureau member since he knows that Farm Bureau is doing a lot to protect farmers from regulations and he is thankful for the coverage he gets through his Nationwide Insurance.

Thank you Jim for all you do in being a vital part of our ag community!

To grow a network and gain perspective and knowledge in the industry through personal and professional development has been invaluable. Every day I learn and grow.

Farm Bureau connections
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Bringing the farm back to life
Because we are younger farmers just starting out, Farm Bureau has a lot of good opportunities and resources to help us grow in the future.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

Select Partner Program
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
