Athens-Meigs County Farm Bureau hosts 2nd Annual Dinner on the Farm

Athens-Meigs County Farm Bureau hosted the 2nd Annual Dinner on the Farm event Sept. 14, 2024 at Porter’s Pumpkins and Jada’s Maze in Pomeroy.

The Dinner on the Farm event helps to raise money for the Athens-Meigs County Farm Bureau Youth in Agriculture Development Fund. The fund was established to help the board in awarding more scholarships or helping out local FFA chapters with different needs.

On the beautiful night of Sept. 14, we had a wonderful meal prepared by Chef Austin Cole of Culinary Art Co. Music was played by Cole Gannon. The Federal Hocking FFA Chapter helped in serving the dinner. A silent auction was held during the duration of the event to help raise additional funds.

Thank you to our various sponsors and donors who helped make the night a success!

  • Merchant’s National Bank – Athens
  • Farm Credit Mid-America / Rural 1st
  • Holzer Health Systems
  • Ohio University
  • Shagbark Seed & Mill
  • Snowville Creamery
  • Mac’s Thrifty Store
  • Texas Roadhouse  – Athens

A special thanks to the Meigs County Sr. Fairboard and Alyssa & Phill Webb for helping to make our night such a success! Can’t wait to see what next year will hold!

The mission of Ohio Farm Bureau is working together for Ohio farmers to advance agriculture and strengthen our communities

The plan we are on is great. It’s comparable to my previous job's plan, and we are a sole proprietor.

Farm Bureau connections
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Bringing the farm back to life
Because we are younger farmers just starting out, Farm Bureau has a lot of good opportunities and resources to help us grow in the future.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

Select Partner Program
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
