Athens-Meigs Annual Meeting 2025

Athens-Meigs County Farm Bureau held its 94th annual meeting Aug. 23 at Albany Fairgrounds.

Twenty-six members and guests attended the meeting where action was taken on the organization’s policy priorities, elections were held, and special achievements were recognized. Farm Bureau leaders and Ohio Farm Bureau Director of Health Services Trevor Kirkpatrick addressed the meeting.

Re-elected to the county board of trustees were Tammi Goeglein, Sandy Sanders, Hannah Thompson and Roy Vaughan. Elected to serve as delegates to the 2026 OFBF state annual meeting were Tammi Goeglein, Hannah Thompson and Roy Vaughan.

Athens-Meigs County Farm Bureau President Tammi Goeglein discussed different activities that the county Farm Bureau had taken part in. These included holding the 22nd annual 4th Grade Ag Day in Athens County, the 6th annual 4th Grade Ag Day in Meigs County, and the third annual Dinner on the Farm at the Bobcat Bed & Breakfast.

Organization Director Ashley Kasler recognized the county board of trustees with a small gift of appreciation.

Ohio Farm Bureau State Trustees Gary Truance and Greg Wells talked about Farm Bureau Forward and Ohio Farm Bureau’s accomplishments over the last year.

The featured speaker was Trevor Kirkpatrick who talked about the new Health Plan options that would be opening up to Ohio Farm Bureau members later in 2025.

The mission of Ohio Farm Bureau is working together for Ohio farmers to advance agriculture and strengthen our communities.

My first recommendation in your journey is to start out with a local farming friend or mentor along with joining an organization like Ohio Farm Bureau.

New and beginning farmers
We’re just so thankful for the Farm Bureau and the foundation for helping put this together. And of course, the Boyert family for the vision they had with this grant. It’s jumping us forward 10 years. It’s unbelievable.

Youth pathways in Farm Bureau
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Giving farmers a voice
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
