Local businesses and families unite for 6th Annual Trunk or Treat

The air was crisp, truck horns sounded like a choir across the fairgrounds, and the braying of donkeys at the petting zoo filled the afternoon as the Brown County Farm Bureau hosted its 6th Annual Trunk or Treat & Touch-a-Truck event on Oct. 17, 2026. Drawing an estimated crowd of over 630 community members, the Brown County Fairgrounds transformed into festive atmosphere for local families. The event’s success was made possible through strong community partnerships.

Attractions at this year’s event offered something for every age, combining Halloween traditions with hands-on exploration. Through the expanded Touch-a-Truck feature, young visitors climbed aboard, explored, and honked the horns on machinery provided by local partners. Meanwhile, over two dozen local businesses, civic groups, and first responders lined the grounds with decorated trunks, games, and sweet treats. Several key Farm Bureau Group Members joined us, including Brown County Rural Water Association, First State Bank, John Wood Insurance Agency, and Sardinia Ready Mix.

The county is especially grateful to the Brown County Board of Trustees and their tireless volunteerism! Hosted by the Brown County Farm Bureau, events of this scale highlight how members support directly fund family-friendly outreach and local programming throughout the year. Community members interested in supporting future initiatives can learn more about joining at ofbf.org/join.

    New and beginning farmers
My first recommendation in your journey is to start out with a local farming friend or mentor along with joining an organization like Ohio Farm Bureau.

    Growing Tomorrow Grant
We’re just so thankful for the Farm Bureau and the foundation for helping put this together. And of course, the Boyert family for the vision they had with this grant. It’s jumping us forward 10 years. It’s unbelievable.

    Giving farmers a voice
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

    Select Partner Program
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

    Advocacy
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
