COVID-19 is a new frontier for all of us as we deal with the realities of a pandemic and the impact it is having on our lives, on our families, our communities and on our work. It’s arrival in Ohio has created an unprecedented disruption on grocery store shelves, but rest assured there are currently no nationwide shortages of food, despite localized reports of shortage, and we have our farmers and growers to thank for that.

Supporting our local farmers, growers and businesses in this difficult period is as vital as ever. As American Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall said, “Empty shelves can be frightening, but empty fields and barns would be devastating.”

In an effort to support our community, we have partnered with Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership, Healthy Communities Partnership, Mahoning Valley Farmers Market Network and the Lake to River Food Cooperative to create a place for farmers, growers and businesses to advertise and share their goods and services, which also provides a resource for consumers to find items they need right in their community.

I want to list my products.

I want to buy local products.

Call Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership 330-399-1212 or Farm Bureau at 440.426.2195

You can also download the 2019 Northeast Counties Farm Bureau Buying Local Directory for additional goods and services in Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake and Trumbull counties.

My first recommendation in your journey is to start out with a local farming friend or mentor along with joining an organization like Ohio Farm Bureau.

New and beginning farmers
We’re just so thankful for the Farm Bureau and the foundation for helping put this together. And of course, the Boyert family for the vision they had with this grant. It’s jumping us forward 10 years. It’s unbelievable.

The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Giving farmers a voice
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
