Read MoreHello everyone. My name is Ally Ott, and I will be spending the summer as the Farm Bureau intern for Allen, Paulding, Putnam and Van Wert counties. I am currently a sophomore at the Ohio State University at Columbus, where I just finished my first year. I am studying agribusiness and applied economics with a minor in agricultural communications. While on campus, I have had the opportunity to become involved in the CFAES Ambassador team, CFAES Learning Community, and the Ohio State Agribusiness Club, where I currently hold the officer position as the CFAES Student Council Representative.
I grew up in Wapakoneta and graduated from St. Marys Memorial High School. Growing up I was involved in Prospect 4-H Club, where I held officer positions, raised swine and took various special interest projects. I was a member of the Junior Fairboard where I served as vice president, dairy chairman, and was on the executive committee. Additionally, I was a 4-H camp counselor and a member of CARTEENS. To continue to give other kids the same opportunities that 4-H has given to me, I have recently become an advisor for the Prospects 4-H Club and CARTEENS.
Throughout high school I was involved in the St. Marys FFA Chapter, where I served as chaplin for one year and president for two. While involved in FFA, I have had the opportunity to not only participate in service projects, but to also create my own. Some of the projects that I have created are P.L.A.Y (Playing, Learning, Achieving, Youth), Chairs for Charity, and the Ag Hunt. I have earned my Greenhand, Chapter, and State degrees and I am working toward earning my American degree.
Agriculture has played a large role in my life and has become my passion. Some of my fondest childhood memories have come from being directly involved in agriculture from a young age, through helping on my family’s farm. I enjoy every opportunity to not only become more involved in the industry as I grow older, but to also learn more about agriculture through helping my family on the farm.
I am excited for the opportunities that will come with working for the Allen, Paulding, Putnam and Van Wert County Farm Bureaus. I hope to continue to grow my knowledge about agriculture and to make new connections within these communities throughout the summer.
