Ohio Farm Bureau recently sent a letter to Congress calling for the swift passage of Chairman G.T. Thompson and the U.S. House Agriculture Committee’s Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 (HR 7567). The letter outlines the urgent need to address California’s Proposition 12 and further investment of farm programs, including credit, research and conservation.
“Ohio agriculture is facing a generational storm of challenges with skyrocketing input costs, nearly record-low crop prices, harsh weather conditions and continued trade disputes. These pressures have left many farm families operating on razor-thin margins or making the difficult decision to shutter the family farm altogether. Ohio farmers need a farm policy that reflects today’s economic realities and allows them to plan, invest and continue to grow for generations to come,” said Ohio Farm Bureau President Bill Patterson.
The letter was sent in partnership with other state Farm Bureaus and American Farm Bureau calling for quick action on the critical legislation.
