Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation recently awarded grants to fund efforts in ag-related programming.
The Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation funds programs that create a positive, measurable impact in four core areas of giving through its Action and Awareness grant program:
- Education – Providing grants for professional development programs allowing individuals to advance their knowledge of agriculture, share ideas and improve people’s lives.
- Environment – Funding sensible solutions that contribute to a healthier, cleaner and more sustainable Ohio by focusing on increased care for land and water.
- Economic Development – Capturing opportunities that build prosperity, create jobs and enhance the quality of life for Ohioans by funding projects that spur economic growth in local communities.
- Human-Animal Bond – Promoting the proper care of animals and the many ways they bring quality to human life.
Grant amounts are typically between $1,000 and $3,000 and are provided for a one-year period.
The deadline to apply for grants during the fall grant cycle is Oct. 2. To apply for funding visit https://ofbf.org/foundation/grant-seekers/. Following are those programs awarded grants in the spring grant cycle:
- Ohio Soybean Foundation for its ag-biotech academy
- Friends of Sunrock Farm, Inc. for farm visit subsidies for low-income and at-risk youth
- Ohio Farm Bureau for AgriPOWER Class IX
- Ohio FFA Foundation for its leadership camp
- Sauder Village for a video component to Grain: From Field to Flour
- Highland Youth Garden for its summer program
- Gorman Heritage Farm Foundation’s Agriculture Education for Building Healthy Futures program
- Jefferson County Farm Bureau for Chickquest, an agricultural education outreach program in conjunction with local schools
- North Union Farmers Market’s efforts to train farmers and expand wholesale distribution in northeast Ohio.
