Jay Womack, a Geauga County Farm Bureau Trustee, is the most recent Farm Bureau leader to graduate from Leadership Geauga.  According to Melanie Scanlon, the executive director,  “Jay always represented the Farm Bureau with professionalism and was a wonderful class member.  He even saved our group one day when our bus driver had some mechanical issues.”  Melanie explained that having someone in the class who is in agriculture is great for both of our organizations.  Thank you Jay, for representing Farm Bureau so well!

Leadership Geauga is an adult leadership program designed to develop a community of well-informed individuals through first-hand educational experiences.  The program enrolls participants who have a commitment to the Geauga County community and who are interested in assuming greater responsibility for the future leadership of the county. Participants dedicate one full day a month for 10 months (September-June) to these educational activities.  By exposing participants to various aspects of community life, Leadership Geauga calls on future leaders to imagine real-world solutions to the challenges in the county.

Geauga County Farm Bureau has been a strong supporter of Leadership Geauga and is looking for an applicant with an agricultural background to sponsor for the 2017-2018 year. Leadership Geauga is in the process of recruiting participants for the Class of 2018.  Applications are still being accepted.

Click here for the application or call the Leadership Geauga office at 440.286.8115.

To grow a network and gain perspective and knowledge in the industry through personal and professional development has been invaluable. Every day I learn and grow.

Farm Bureau connections
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Farm Bureau is what really got the word out. It’s been one of their goals to get this done.

Bringing the farm back to life
Because we are younger farmers just starting out, Farm Bureau has a lot of good opportunities and resources to help us grow in the future.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

Select Partner Program
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
