The award for incumbent Statehouse candidates is determined by the following criteria:
For incumbents to be considered for the designation, they must have a satisfactory voting record in regard to Ohio Farm Bureau key votes, which during the 132nd General Assembly included
The screening committees, comprised of the county trustees, can designate one candidate, both candidates or neither candidates as the Friend of Agriculture.
