This year’s Crawford, Marion, Morrow and Richland County Farm Bureau’s summer intern is Meridith Cocherl. Meridith is a senior at Ohio State University majoring in agribusiness and applied economics with a minor in agricultural communications.

Meridith lives in Marion County and is the daughter of John and Cindy Cocherl. She is a graduate of Elgin High School where she served as her class secretary. She also served as captain of the varsity volleyball and basketball team, vice president of the Elgin FFA, and vice president of the National Honor Society. During her time in 4-H and FFA, she showed pigs at the Marion County Fair.

In 2018, Meridith received the American FFA Degree at the 91st National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis. While attending college, she is a member of the Sigma Alpha Sorority and the Agribusiness Club. In her spare time, she helps in the office at Ralph Brothers Farm.

Meridith is extremely humbled to be interning at an organization that is important to her and her family. Her responsibilities will focus on growing the organization, strengthening relationships with existing members and assisting with the implementation of county activities.

To grow a network and gain perspective and knowledge in the industry through personal and professional development has been invaluable. Every day I learn and grow.

Farm Bureau connections
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Farm Bureau is what really got the word out. It’s been one of their goals to get this done.

Bringing the farm back to life
Because we are younger farmers just starting out, Farm Bureau has a lot of good opportunities and resources to help us grow in the future.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

Select Partner Program
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
