Belmont County Farm Bureau would like to thank the Belmont County community for helping us to raise over $38,000 for the second School Backpack Program. An additional generous matching donation by Belmont County GIG/Fiber Capital Partners gives us a grand total of over $76,000 for food for needy kids in our county!

This money will allow us to purchase healthy, nutritious meals for the needy kids in our county. We cannot thank everyone enough for all of the generosity being shown for the kids in our community.

When Belmont County Farm Bureau Board Trustee Devin Cain proposed another Backpack event to the trustee board in a pandemic year, we had no idea what to expect, so no absolute goal was set. It has been a very hard year for many, and the number of backpacks being filled has grown since our last event two years ago. The goal was to achieve as much as we could, and it would be put to work.

Cain began as usual with reaching out to many businesses, organizations and individuals in the county. Letters were sent to past supporters, and then we got to see how very supportive Belmont County can be for a just cause. The level of donations has far exceeded our expectations and we could not be happier.

We have over 170 different donors, and the match made by Belmont County GIG/Fiber Capital Partners will allow for two packing events this year. One is coming soon in June, and the second is planned for November.

Packing event details

Please join us in the Packing Event on Saturday, June 26 starting at noon and/or Sunday, June 27 starting at 1 p.m. at The Rock Gymnasium, 440 Watt Ave., Barnesville.

If you would like to schedule a time, please call the Farm Bureau office at 740-425-3681 or feel free to just come! Individuals and all groups are welcome!

Farm Bureau connections
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Bringing the farm back to life
Because we are younger farmers just starting out, Farm Bureau has a lot of good opportunities and resources to help us grow in the future.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

Select Partner Program
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
