Group Member Business Spotlight

Every one of our members is unique and so are their stories. Each week, the Group Member Spotlight takes a behind-the-scenes look at one of our group/business sponsorship members to showcase their story of who they are and what they do!

This week’s spotlight is….. Geauga Feed & Grain and Little Ireland Farm.

Geauga Feed & Grain Supply

Kevin and Amy O’Reilly own and operate Little Ireland Farms in Middlefield, along with their children, growing barley for the local microbrews, food grade soybean for tofu and corn for their own line of feed. Little Ireland Feed is sold to farmers and homesteaders in Geauga, Lake, and Cuyahoga counties through Geauga Feed & Grain Supply’s Newbury location. The O’Reillys have years of experience raising healthy companion animals and livestock. Producing their own line of Little Ireland quality brand feeds was both a natural and progressive step in their passion for farming and animals.

Geauga Feed & Grain Supply was started in 2005 and quickly grew to the current location as the largest family-owned feed and farm store in Geauga County. Geauga Feed is a complete pet and livestock store offering brands such as Kalmbach, Nutrena, Blue Seal, Diamond, Triple Crown, Zignature, and many more. Geauga Feed also has a large selection of barn supplies such as buckets, forks, fly sprays, and anything necessary to raise healthy pets and livestock.

Geauga Feed offers full-service delivery as well as bulk and custom mixed livestock and equine feeds. Additional services include bulk farm delivery, propane depot, dog licenses and tags. Visit their website  for more information.

Labor has always been an issue, mainly because we are a seasonal operation. So that's a challenge finding somebody who only wants to work three months out of a year, sometimes up to six months.

Farm Labor Resources
I appreciate the benefit of having a strong voice in my corner. The extras that are included in membership are wonderful, but I'm a member because of the positive impact to my local and state agricultural communities.

Strong communities
I see the value and need to be engaged in the community I live in, to be a part of the decision-making process and to volunteer with organizations that help make our community better.

Leadership development
Farm Bureau involvement has taught me how to grow my professional and leadership experience outside of the workforce and how to do that in a community-centric way.

Young Ag Professionals program
With not growing up on a farm, I’d say I was a late bloomer to agriculture. I feel so fortunate that I found the agriculture industry. There are so many opportunities for growth.

Growing our Generation
Knowing that horticulture is under the agriculture umbrella and having Farm Bureau supporting horticulture like it does the rest of ag is very important.

If it wasn't for Farm Bureau, I personally, along with many others, would not have had the opportunity to meet with our representatives face to face in Washington.

Washington, D.C. Leadership Experience
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
