Athens Ag Day

Athens-Meigs County Farm Bureau hosted the 21st Annual Athens County Ag Day at the Athens County Fairgrounds on May 13, 2024.

Each year we host the Athens County 4th grade students to teach them about different types of agriculture. There were 437 children that attended this spring. The students rotate through 18 different stations throughout the day. Each student was able to take home a free drawstring bag with all of the bag sponsors on it along with a brochure about what Farm Bureau is and the events they were able to participate in for the day!

We could not host this wonderful event each year if it was not for the Athens County Fairboard for allowing us to use the grounds, our wonderful sponsors who believe in what we are doing and our fantastic presenters that make the day a success!

This years Bag Sponsors are:

Parker Corporation

The Red Bird Ranch

The mission of the Ohio Farm Bureau is working together for Ohio farmers to advance agriculture and strengthen our communities

The plan we are on is great. It’s comparable to my previous job's plan, and we are a sole proprietor.

Farm Bureau connections
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Bringing the farm back to life
Because we are younger farmers just starting out, Farm Bureau has a lot of good opportunities and resources to help us grow in the future.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

Select Partner Program
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
