Located in Trumbull County, Gustavus Veterinary Services is a mixed animal practice providing exceptional care to large and small animals in northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania. Established in 2022 by Elizabeth Ady, DVM, Gustavus Veterinary Services provides wellness exams, preventative care, diagnostic testing, internal medicine, surgical procedures, pharmacy, health certificates, emergency care services, large animal services, euthanasia, and cremation services. 

When local farmers and pet owners need a partner in animal health, they look for a practice that combines high-level medical expertise with a deep understanding of our rural lifestyle. Gustavus Veterinary Services, located in Farmdale, Ohio has become a cornerstone of our community by providing that exact balance—offering compassionate, “mixed-animal” care that spans from the family living room to the farm gate. Gustavus Veterinary Services is investing in a haul-in facility and bringing advanced diagnostics directly to the field. They are not just treating animals; they are protecting the livelihoods of our producers and the well-being of our cherished companions across northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania.

Services offered

Wellness & Preventative Care

  • Annual Exams: Required yearly for pets and livestock to maintain an active client status.

  • Diagnostics: On-site digital radiography (in-clinic and mobile) and stall-side laboratory testing.

  • Internal Medicine: Comprehensive illness evaluations for all animal types.

Surgical & Specialized Services

  • Small Animal: Spays, neuters, gastropexies, mass removals, and rabbit spay and neutering.

  • Large Animal: Surgical services available both in-clinic and on the road.

  • Coming Soon: Sheep and Goat Laparoscopic AI.

Pharmacy & Documentation

  • Prescriptions: Full in-office pharmacy and a convenient online shop with home delivery.

  • Travel: Digital health certificates for out-of-state travel or sales, accessible via an online portal.

Large Animal & Emergency Support

  • Haul-In & Mobile: Full ambulatory services for horses and livestock. New indoor treatment area opening soon!

  • Emergency Care: Available for active large animal clients (must have had an annual exam). Small animal emergencies are referred to local specialty hospitals.

  • Aftercare: Compassionate euthanasia and cremation services through partners Aspen Hill (small animal) and Thousand Hills (large animal).
