2026 AFBF YF&R Conference Ohio group

Ohio Farm Bureau is opening doors for young members by sponsoring five Young Ag Professional members’ registration, hotel and travel to the American Farm Bureau FUSION Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana March 12-15, 2027.

The FUSION Conference is held every other year, uniting over 1,000 Farm Bureau members of all ages from across the nation to connect, grow and lead. It’s members’ chance to network with future ag innovators, grow leadership skills, and gain new ideas to bring back to the farm, company, or local community. Whether just starting a career or looking to level up, this is an opportunity to invest in yourself – and your future!

Applications are due Dec. 1, 2026.

Eligibility

Any active Ohio Farm Bureau YAP member (age 18-35) is eligible to apply for an AFBF Conference scholarship.

  • The following individuals are NOT eligible to apply:
    • Former AFBF Conference or Special 10 scholarship recipients
    • Current and past members of the YAP State Committee
    • Current and past members of the AFBF YF&R Committee
Award

Each of the five scholarships is valued at over $2,500 and covers the cost of registration, hotel accommodations, and travel to the 2027 AFBF FUSION Conference.

Recipients will be notified via email by early January to allow adequate time to book travel accommodations and also will be publicly announced at the Ohio Farm Bureau Winter Leadership Experience taking place Jan. 22-23 in Columbus. All attendees will be notified of their application status following the formal announcement at WLE. Attendance at WLE is NOT required to receive this scholarship.

Scholarship recipients will be responsible for travel to and from the airport in Ohio, covering the cost of meals during travel, and the cost of a conference tour if they so choose to select a tour option that requires an additional fee.

All scholarship recipients are expected to attend the entirety of the AFBF FUSION Conference and participate in ALL general programming of the conference which typically includes flying out Friday morning/early afternoon and returning on a late Monday night or early Tuesday morning flight. A recipient may be asked to pay back the value of their scholarship if they intentionally skip general programming during the conference.

My first recommendation in your journey is to start out with a local farming friend or mentor along with joining an organization like Ohio Farm Bureau.

We’re just so thankful for the Farm Bureau and the foundation for helping put this together. And of course, the Boyert family for the vision they had with this grant. It’s jumping us forward 10 years. It’s unbelievable.

It wasn’t until I joined the Wilmington College Collegiate Farm Bureau that I truly saw how my passion could translate into leadership, advocacy and a career.

The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
