During the 2019 baseball season the Cleveland Indians Triple A affiliate, the Columbus Clippers, will be introducing Ohio’s Farm Team, honoring Ohio Farm Bureau members who produce those items that make a day at the ballpark, well, a day at the ballpark.
“We are proud to be partnering with the Ohio Farm Bureau as they celebrate their 100th anniversary,” said Ken Schnacke, president and general manager of the Columbus Clippers. “Without farming, this country would not be what it is today, and farmers play an instrumental part in our everyday lives by the products they grow and raise. Farmers in America are truly some of the real all-stars in our communities.”
Nine Farm Bureau members from all over Ohio and from all aspects of agriculture will represent the industry at Clippers’ Family Days at Sunday home games throughout the season. At each game, the farm family will be introduced and a farmer will throw out the first pitch.
Fans attending the games will also learn important facts about Ohio agriculture and how farmers grow a wholesome and safe food supply for the world, including hot dogs, Cracker Jack, nachos, ice cream and Cover Crop beer, which is being offered all season long at Huntington Park.
“Any time we can show just how intertwined farming is with every aspect of our lives, whether it be at the dinner table or at the ballpark, we welcome that opportunity,” said Adam Sharp, executive vice president of Ohio Farm Bureau. “Using this platform will reach consumers with a positive message about agriculture in a way we have never had before.”
The Clippers are offering a discount coupon for Ohio Farm Bureau members for every Sunday Family Day at Huntington Park. The coupon can be printed, or shown on a phone. Load up the car and join Farm Bureau in cheering on the Clippers and Ohio’s 2019 Farm Team.
