2021 Pickaway County Buyers Club

The Pickaway County Buyers Club is a group of businesses, organizations, Farm Bureau members and residents that pool funds to purchase youth livestock projects at the Pickaway County Junior Fair Sale.

Founded in 2018 as a project of the Pickaway County Farm Bureau, the club has grown in donors and dollar contributions each year. Every dollar donated directly supports youth exhibitors. The Buyers Club makes a special effort to target young farmers who receive no bids or minimal bids. As a result, the club increases resources for bidding and ensures that all Pickaway County youth exhibitors receive a premium price for their project.

In 2021, 71 local businesses, organizations, Farm Bureau members and individuals gave $36,834 to support youth at the Pickaway County 2021 Junior Fair Sale! The Pickaway County Buyers Club purchased 65 livestock projects plus 18 add-ons.

The plan we are on is great. It’s comparable to my previous job's plan, and we are a sole proprietor.

Farm Bureau connections
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Bringing the farm back to life
Because we are younger farmers just starting out, Farm Bureau has a lot of good opportunities and resources to help us grow in the future.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

Select Partner Program
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
