Read MoreGallia County Farm Bureau hosted the 5th annual Spring Member Only Soil Testing event March 24-28 in conjunction with the Gallia SWCD Office.
For the last seven years, Gallia County Farm Bureau has been working with the Gallia County Soil and Water Conservation District to facilitate soil testing within the county. Farm Bureau members had the opportunity to collect four soil samples and deliver them to the SWCD office between March 24-28 during normal business hours. Memberships were checked to be current and the samples were recorded by the SWCD. At the end of the week, the samples were sent off to the lab to get the necessary results. Once the results are completed, members will receive the information via email or mail. These results will help them determine what they may or may not need to add on their land this year before planting.
This spring we brought in 78 different soil samples from Gallia County.
This is a project that the Gallia County Farm Bureau feels adds value to our membership within the county. The program is offered for a week in the spring and a week in the fall.
