Brown County Farm Bureau hosts 2026 Annual Meeting

    2026 Brown County Annual Meeting

On Aug. 27, 2026, local agricultural supporters gathered at Rhonemus Hall at the Brown County Fairgrounds in Georgetown for the joint Annual Meeting of the Brown County Farm Bureau and the Brown County Soil & Water Conservation District. Attendees enjoyed a buffet dinner provided by City BBQ while connecting with community partners, local agencies and area leaders. Supporting the future of farming was at the heart of the evening.

A highlight of the night was keynote address from Ohio FFA President Austin Manning, who reflected on experiences in the nation’s capital and discussed pressing agricultural topics like international trade. The talk focused on the importance of maintaining optimism during challenging times, encouraging attendees to focus on the things they can control and maintain a positive perspective. The message reminded the audience that personal connections are at the heart of strong organizations and urged everyone to keep raising their voices to champion Ohio’s leading industry.

During the formal business portion, members approved the county financial report, finalized local policy suggestions, and confirmed election results for open board trustee seats and state meeting delegates. In closing remarks, President Jason Stephens reflected on the accomplishments of the past year and shared enthusiasm for upcoming community events. The evening wrapped up with sincere thanks to dedicated members, local business sponsors, and staff for their year-round support.

    New and beginning farmers
My first recommendation in your journey is to start out with a local farming friend or mentor along with joining an organization like Ohio Farm Bureau.

    Growing Tomorrow Grant
We’re just so thankful for the Farm Bureau and the foundation for helping put this together. And of course, the Boyert family for the vision they had with this grant. It’s jumping us forward 10 years. It’s unbelievable.

    Giving farmers a voice
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

    Select Partner Program
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

    Advocacy
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
