Ohio’s agricultural community came together to raise a record $100,000 at the 8th annual Cultivating a Cure event held at OFBF President Frank Burkett’s Clardale Farms in Canal Fulton. The Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation fundraiser supports cancer treatment and prevention research at The Comprehensive Cancer Center—Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute at The Ohio State University. Keynote speaker was American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall who talked about his family’s personal experience with cancer.
Nationwide board member and former OFBF President Brent Porteus started Cultivating a Cure as a way to remember his wife, Debbie, after she died from breast cancer and to raise funds in an effort to find a cure for cancer. To date, the event has raised more than $530,000.
