Read MoreBrad Mularcik, a long-standing member of the Summit County Farm Bureau, believes that there is too little attention paid to the skilled trades as a career choice for young people. Despite having a masters degree in electrical engineering, he believes that a college degree is not the only path to success.
In 2012, he began teaching the Welding Merit Badge for the Boy Scouts of America. He is a self-taught hobby welder who believed that he knew enough about welding to introduce kids to it. Teaching the merit badge caused Mr. Mularcik to become more aware of the skills gap in America and the need for more young people to enter the skilled trades, particularly welding.
By offering this scholarship, he wishes to help young people who are seeking a career in welding. The Mularcik Welding Scholarship provides one (1), $5,000 scholarship to a deserving student seeking a career in welding.
