Adams County Farm Bureau celebrates Farm Bureau Day at the Fair

Adams County Farm Bureau hosted its annual Farm Bureau Day at the Adams County Fair  July 12, offering fun activities for all ages. Kids and adults kicked off the day with pedal tractor pulls, where everyone enjoyed some friendly competition. The energetic frog  jumping contest was a hit, bringing lots of laughs and excitement as participants cheered on their frogs. Albeit, sometimes they even crawled alongside their frogs.

Guests were also treated to a fascinating Birds of Prey program, where they learned about hawks, owls and other raptors and their role in keeping nature in balance. It was an educational experience for the whole family. Tractor games added even more fun, with participants competing in events like tractor basketball, showcasing skill and precision behind the wheel.

This annual event gained national recognition as a 2023 AFBF County Activities of Excellence winner, earning county leaders a trip to Salt Lake City in January 2024. Prizes for the day’s competitions included gift certificates to the 4-H Food Booth, further supporting the junior fair. Adams County Farm Bureau combined tradition, education, and community spirit, making Farm Bureau Day a highlight of the fair.

My first recommendation in your journey is to start out with a local farming friend or mentor along with joining an organization like Ohio Farm Bureau.

New and beginning farmers
We’re just so thankful for the Farm Bureau and the foundation for helping put this together. And of course, the Boyert family for the vision they had with this grant. It’s jumping us forward 10 years. It’s unbelievable.

Youth pathways in Farm Bureau
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Giving farmers a voice
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
