Athens-Meigs County Farm Bureau hosts Member Only Soil Testing Event
Farm Bureau members have the opportunity for free soil sample testing in the spring and again in the fall.
Read MoreAthens-Meigs County Farm Bureau hosted the 2nd annual ‘Spring Member Only Soil Testing’ event March 24 -28, in conjunction with the Athens SWCD office and the Meigs SWCD office.
Members enjoy this localized member benefit, so the Athens-Meigs Farm Bureau board decided to team up with the Athens and Meigs SWCD offices to host the opportunity in the spring and again in the fall. Members had the opportunity to collect two soil samples and deliver them to their county SWCD office between March 24-28 during normal business hours. Farm Bureau memberships were checked to be current and the samples were recorded by the SWCD. At the end of the week, the samples were sent off to the lab. Once the results are completed, the members will receive their information via email or mail. These results help them to determine what may or may not need to added on their land this year before planting.
This spring, 37 different soil samples were brought in from Meigs County and 25 different soil samples in Athens County.
This is a project that the Athens-Meigs County Farm Bureau feels adds value to our membership within the county.
