The Richland County Farm Bureau is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2026 Richland County Farm Bureau Scholarship.

Abigail Snyder, the daughter of Jason and Lynn Snyder, is a recent graduate of Shelby High School, where she was involved in FFA and 4-H. In addition, she is involved in community service organizations and volunteers at her local church. She plans to attend Tiffin Academy of Hair Design to pursue cosmetology.

Kelsey Snyder, the daughter of Jason and Lynn Snyder, is a graduate of Shelby High School and a recent graduate of Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC). In high school she was involved in FFA and 4-H holding many leadership roles. Snyder is also a member of Core Community Church and a LLCC livestock judging team member. In the fall she plans to attend Western Illinois University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business.

A maximum of two $500 scholarships were awarded to support the further education of Richland County High School graduates. Congratulations to the recipients; Richland County Farm Bureau wishes you the best of luck this fall!

My first recommendation in your journey is to start out with a local farming friend or mentor along with joining an organization like Ohio Farm Bureau.

New and beginning farmers
We’re just so thankful for the Farm Bureau and the foundation for helping put this together. And of course, the Boyert family for the vision they had with this grant. It’s jumping us forward 10 years. It’s unbelievable.

The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Giving farmers a voice
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
