Our monthly spotlight blog features Hardin County Farm Bureau’s board trustee, Courtney Kiper, who is originally from Mt. Victory. Courtney graduated from Ridgemont High School. She is married with two children. Courtney is involved in her church as well.
How long have you been a farmer?
All my life. I was born on a farm.
Why did you decide to be a farmer (or work in agribusiness)?
Because of the family farm.
What do you love about farming?
I love the good smells: fresh cut hay and turned soil.
Why do you think it’s important to know where your food comes from?
For food safety.
What is the biggest challenge facing agriculture?
The misinformation out there.
Why are you a Farm Bureau member? What do you see as the biggest benefit?
So I can be on the board.
What is your favorite Farm Bureau event or activity?
The parties and the fair.
What are your hobbies beside farming?
My children.
