Warren County holds annual meeting

Warren County Farm Bureau held its annual meeting Sept. 5 at the event center on the Warren County Fairgrounds. President Kathleen Topmiller recognized board members and special guests and thanked them for attending.

Our guest speaker for the evening was Warren County Auditor Matt Nolan. He gave us an insight of the increase in tax on farm and housing in the county. He informed us that there will be a CAUV meeting Oct. 16.

Our next speaker was Tanner Shinkle with the Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District. He gave us an overview of farmland preservation.

Afterward, we auctioned off an American flag wood panel to raise money for our scholarship fund.

Up next, a certificate of appreciation was awarded to Tom Bensman for all of his years of hard work and dedication to Warren County Farm Bureau.

Jennifer Bullock was awarded Member of Distinction for her years of service and dedication to Farm Bureau.

District 19 State Trustee Nicol Reiterman gave a few comments about the importance of having a Farm Bureau membership.

To close out the meeting, Adam Campbell was announced as Warren County Farm Bureau’s new president.

It was a fantastic evening and we would like to thank everyone who attended and helped make this event a success!

My first recommendation in your journey is to start out with a local farming friend or mentor along with joining an organization like Ohio Farm Bureau.

We’re just so thankful for the Farm Bureau and the foundation for helping put this together. And of course, the Boyert family for the vision they had with this grant. It’s jumping us forward 10 years. It’s unbelievable.

The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Giving farmers a voice
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
