Read MoreThere is nothing quite like watching a classroom of third graders realize that the butter they eat at breakfast doesn’t just appear on grocery store shelves; it starts on a farm.
Recently, students at Westview Elementary swapped their pencils for jars to dive into a hands-on lesson about agriculture. Moving beyond the basics, these third graders explored the science and hard work behind dairy farming, tracking the journey of milk from the pasture to our dinner tables.
Of course, no science experiment is complete without testing the results. Once the heavy shaking and churning were done, the students spread their fresh, homemade butter onto crackers for a quick taste test. The final verdict? Absolutely delicious!
By connecting a real-world agriculture lesson with a tasty reward, these students walked away with a whole new appreciation for the farming community and the food on their plates.
