Marion County Farm Bureau celebrated agriculture, local farmers and its rural community on March 25, during National Ag Week, with its Farmers CARE Breakfast.
With tremendous volunteers, donors and partners, around 450 people enjoyed a hearty breakfast. Following breakfast, extra eggs, sausage and other food items were donated to Tri-Rivers school, Turning Point and the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry. There was a lot of community engagement and discussion, which made for a great morning.
Agriculture provides almost everything we eat, use and wear on a daily basis, but many people don’t think about that. This event provided an opportunity for the community to come together, talk with local farmers. Ag Week is about recognizing the contribution of agriculture in our everyday lives. Marion County Farm Bureau hopes every American will
• Understand how food and fiber products are produced.
• Appreciate the role agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant and affordable products.
• Value the essential role of agriculture in maintaining a strong economy.
• Acknowledge and consider career opportunities in the agriculture, food and fiber industry.
