2026 Miami County Policy Meeting

Our 2026 Public Policy Meeting is just around the corner, and we look forward to seeing you all once again at the Tri-County Building March 24 in Troy. Dinner is at 5 p.m. and we will hear an update with Q&A regarding the prison facility, followed by a round table discussion of additional topics important to Miami County. Please come with questions, concerns, suggestions, or simply to listen.

RSVP online by March 20, by email [email protected] or call 937-335-1471.

“I know there are many more issues and concerns that affect the agricultural community within Miami County. Therefore, I am asking you to attend this meeting to give the Miami County Farm Bureau trustees a plan to help Miami County farmers, landowners and agricultural retailers thrive and be able to pass the land and the ag business to the next generation. Thank you and I hope to see you on March 24th.”

-Kreig Smail, Miami County Farm Bureau president

My first recommendation in your journey is to start out with a local farming friend or mentor along with joining an organization like Ohio Farm Bureau.

New and beginning farmers
We’re just so thankful for the Farm Bureau and the foundation for helping put this together. And of course, the Boyert family for the vision they had with this grant. It’s jumping us forward 10 years. It’s unbelievable.

The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Giving farmers a voice
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
