Marion County Fair

The Marion County Farm Bureau would like to encourage everyone to visit the Marion County Fair July 3 – 8. Check out this year’s schedule of Farm Bureau sponsored events!

The Feed Sack Decorating Contest is a contest where you, either individually or with a team, decorate a feed sack with an agriculture-related theme to be judged. The Feed Sack Decorating Contest judging will begin at 1:15 p.m. on Friday., July 7, in Evers Arena. Winners will be announced at 2 p.m. that day before Barnyard Olympics. Participants can pick up their feed sack to begin decorating after 11 a.m. on Mon., July 3, at the Junior Fair Board Office. There are team and individual divisions. Teams are two or more people in the same age category. Age groups are as follows: 8-year-olds and under, 9 to 10-year-olds, 11 to 13-year-olds, 14 to 15-year-olds, 16 to 18-year-olds, and 19-year-olds and older. There will be cash prizes for individual winners and milkshake tickets for team winners!

Barnyard Olympics is a fun obstacle course where teams test their aim and agility. Barnyard Olympics will begin on Friday, July 7, at 2 p.m. in Evers Arena. Registration begins at 1:15 p.m., so teams can check in to receive their numbered tags. All participants will receive a free milkshake voucher to the 4-H Milkshake Stand!

Come and join all the fun happening at this year’s Marion County Fair. The Marion County Farm Bureau is a gold sponsor and a proud supporter of the Junior Fair and would like to wish good luck to all of the participants showing their livestock and home projects at the fair.

My first recommendation in your journey is to start out with a local farming friend or mentor along with joining an organization like Ohio Farm Bureau.

New and beginning farmers
We’re just so thankful for the Farm Bureau and the foundation for helping put this together. And of course, the Boyert family for the vision they had with this grant. It’s jumping us forward 10 years. It’s unbelievable.

Youth pathways in Farm Bureau
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Giving farmers a voice
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
